Tyler Gillum is the Head Coach of the fastest, most entertaining, and greatest show in sports, the Savannah Bananas. With a staggering waitlist of over 3 million fans and in the midst of a sold-out 96-game 2024 world tour with crowds exceeding 40,000, the Savannah Bananas and their innovative Banna Ball format have taken the sports world by storm.
Since assuming the role in 2018, Tyler has seen remarkable success. Under his leadership as summer collegiate team, the Bananas celebrated over 30 players drafted into the MLB and clinched consecutive CPL Championships in the summers of 2021 and 2022, before embracing the revolutionary Banana Ball concept. Tyler was instrumental in developing the original Banana Ball rules and witnessed its debut at Lander University in the Fall of 2018. In 2019, Gillum started wearing ostrich boots on the field to add to the Bananas entertainment during games, those original ostrich boots were sold to him by Randy Watson.
Prior to his tenure with the Bananas, Tyler spent 13 years coaching college baseball, with 11 of those years at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Arizona. At SMCC, he served as the Associate Head Coach and Director of Exercise Science, overseeing Strength & Conditioning for all athletics.
Gillum lives each day with his motto “Bet On Yourself” and has personally set a goal to make a positive impact on 1 million people.
Tyler is also a sought-after keynote speaker at conventions and clinics across North America, focusing on topics such as culture, team building, business, infield development, and baserunning. Gillum out kicked his coverage by marrying Danielle Gillum in 2019. Together they have a 4-year-old son named Camden.
