Lacey grew up with an older sister, her mother and brothers coaching and training on her horsemanship abilities beginning when she was 3 years old. She had an inborn desire to train any animal. As a youngster she was Ft Worth AQHA Champion Barrel Racer, Dixie National AQHA champion and competed at the AQHA World Show at 8 years of age. She competed in four events through her youth and high school. At 11 years of age she was the Josey Reunion 1-D Champion and at 12 she won the 12 & under Breakaway Roping at Barry Burk Jr Roping. She is still the only girl to have ever won.
In High School as a Freshman, Lacey won the IFYR Shawnee Breakaway roping Championship. The next year she was the All Around at the AJRA finals and won a horse trailer. As a Senior in High School she was the Texas Region 10 All Around Champion and Breakaway Roping Champion.
Lacey won a total of 60 saddles and many buckles as a youth and High School Competitor. She expressed her desire to train futurity horses so her mom purchased 2 colts to start out the futurity training.
